About SGOU

Sreenarayanaguru Open University (SGOU) is Kerala’s first state open university, established in 2020 to provide flexible and accessible higher education through open and distance learning. Headquartered in Kollam, the university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programs. Inspired by the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru, SGOU promotes inclusive, affordable, and learner-centered education for students from diverse backgrounds and learning needs.

SGOU – Accreditations & Approvals

• Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Sections 2(f) & 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.
• Established by the Government of Kerala in 2020.
• Offers UGC-DEB approved Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs.
• Degrees are recognized as equivalent to regular university degrees as per UGC norms.
• Participates in national ranking and accreditation processes such as NIRF and KIRF.
